Windows 2003: Connecting to Server without Login Console, Connecting to Windows server when maximum number of allowed connections has been exceeded.

How Do I Bypass the Server Connections limit

We work in a virtual environment with many staff members connecting to the server from remote locations. It is incredibly efficient but not without some draw backs. One of those draw backs is Terminal Connections not closing out when the developer has logged off. This means that everyone comes to a grinding hault the next time they go to login. Normally, we call the server administrator to reboot the server and this clears the problem. But this creates a delay ( some times long ).

Here are some of the common ways to Search google for help:

  • The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections
  • logging in when terminal server has exceeded maximum
  • connect to windows 2003 without mstsc
  • how to connect to remote server using command prompt
  • login to windows 2003 server with command linet

Here is the Quick solution that works for me:

  • Find the Command Line Prompt on your desktop
  • From the Command Line Screen:
  • mstsc.exe /admin /console /v:(YourServerIPAddress)
  • note the "(" and ")" are not used. So DONT FORGET TO REMOVE THEM.
  • After you have successfully logged in be sure to Reboot the server to assure all connections have been killed.
